Chi Chi, guides and staff,

What a great fishing experience last week at Oak Island Lodge. Your guides Dave, Eric, Tony and Dick and the best. They are there to make our trip the best ever. They put us on record amounts of fish three days in a row. One boat had 17 fish over 20 inches caught in one day ( 29 1/2 inches was the biggest. I caught and released over 110 fish in three days. It doesn’t get any better than that. Your wait staff is great and our stay was the best. Thank you all and thanks to LOL for this great trip. Yours, - Lonny E. Serreyn, July 19, 2012

I wanted to send you this email and thank you for one of the greatest adventures I have taken in my life. The beginning of February myself and 3 others took the foggy 38 mile treck to your lodge and had a vacation that we plan on doing every year for the rest of our lives. The accomodations, the fishing, the food and especially the staff was far beyond what we expected. We already booked our vacation for next year before we even left. So thank you!!!

Thanks again for a great experience and I know we all look forward to next year, and even growing the group that we bring as well! Thanks, Chad Krueger, February 28, 2012

Dear Sportsman's Lodges,

My wife and I just enjoyed a great stay at your Oak Island operation. We truly enjoyed the staff and found the accommodations very nice. Thanks to the whole Sportsman's team for all that you do. We've had several great experiences with your organization this past year.

PS— A Monster walleye which my wife Debbie Carlson caught last week while we were staying at Oak Island.
It was 31.75” long and it weighed 11.33 pounds. The fish was caught in 28' of water on a spinner and crawler.

Best regards,

Gregg and Crew...

On behalf of all of us here at MarCum I would like to Thank You for inviting us up to your Oak Island Lodge. I am not half the wordsmith that Noel or Cory are but the word immeasurable doesn't do justice to the spectacular job you and your staff performed. The volume of work that was amassed on the trip can be credited to our every need being met. Thanks for opening your doors to us, The accommodations and food were first class, and the guides treated us like royalty! You have left a lasting impression on how to fish LOW the right way! Fisherman are great at telling stories and each one we tell about lake of the woods will end with a plug for Sportsman's lodge.

Thanks again for everything. Please share it with Rabbit, Snag, and everyone else involved in putting this together.

Hi Greg,

Thanks a million for taking care of all of the Northland Fishing Crew. You folks went well beyond the call of duty! We really appreciate the helpful tips from the guides, these guys really took care of us. Some of us never been on a track vehicle and other have never been ice fishing on LOTW in the NW Angle so this was a trip of lifetime for most of us.

The meals were excellent! Thanks also to Kerry, Deb, & Lodge staff great job! We enjoyed meeting all of you, you made our photo shoot the best ever! & most of all the Northern & Walleye action was stellar!
Greg, have a great late ice season, hope to be back in April for Sturgeon.

PS: Greg & Staff, hope you guys can take a break soon

Hey Gregg~

Just thought I would drop a line to say THANK YOU, to you and your staff during the Marcum and Northland invasion of Oak Island. I was fortunate to be part of this on Sunday and Monday and have to say that Sportsman's Lodge did a great job of accomodating us all and doing a great job of putting out a great effort to put us on fishable areas. Sounds like I was gone before the big walleye was caught, as I left early Tuesday morning.

This was my first trip up to Oak Island as well and look forward to making more trips up in the coming winters as it is a unique experience and area.

Thanks again for everything,

ChiChi:

Just a quick note to let you know how much we appreciated the efforts of John, Wack, Keri, Deb and the rest of your Oak Island Lodge staff. These great folks made our group feel welcomed and our trip very memorable. The fishing was great with 142 fish caught including 26" and 25" releasers. What a blast. We couldn't have asked for more in the food, fishing or fun department. Attached a jpg of my 25" below.

We are already looking forward to our return trip next year (1/26-1/29) and the great hospitality at Oak Island Lodge. Friends that have recently heard of our adventure are already begging to be included on the 2012 trip. Those that went this year want to extend the trip!

Again, many thanks to all. You folks are the best!! Please share this with your staff

Thank you again Gregg!!!! I can't tell you what a thrill this was for me!! You have an great facility, awesome staff and I will be telling EVERYONE I know about Sportsman's Lodge!!  - Traci R. Sauk Centre, MN, January 27, 2011
Just wanted to thank you for the fine hospitality and great fishing. Ron put us on lots of fish including this guy on January 11th. Thanks again, - Tim Noteboom, January 12, 2011
Hi to Chi-Chi and Greg,

I want to thank both of you for your help and support through the processes of setting up the trip and the stay as well. You guys were there for me from the very first call to the goodbye at checkout.
How do I thank you for all the people that were part of this wonderful experience? Our guide ( Dave Winters ) was head & shoulders above any other guide I have ever had. What more can I say when a guide will go into the water to bear hug a 49” Muskie and bring it in the boat, that pretty much tells you the caliber of service we received throughout the fishing part of the trip. Thanks Dave for your professionalism and kindness to both Randy and myself.

Chi-Chi ,thank you for the food and hospitality. Eric and the girls at the front desk were so accommodating and made us feel right at home. Thanks to Jerry for getting us back and forth on the lake and for making sure we had everything we needed…………Breakfast, cooler etc. I could go on and on………………please know that both Randy & I had the experience of a lifetime thanks to you guys. THANK YOU AND MAY GOD BLESS, -

Chris,

The past three years, we were fishing and staying at a nearby resort to you. There is absolutely no comparison to Sportsman's Oak Island Lodge. We had a great time. The weather was perfect and the fishing, accommodations and staff were even better. On Friday we caught more than 50 fish (missed an equal amount) including a 25plus inch walleye. On Saturday, we caught over 40 fish - including 3 slot walleyes. Needless to say, we ate our fill while there, and I was able to bring home plenty of walleye, sauger and perch. There are plenty of stories, but most are best kept close to the vest :-) We did loose two rod and real combos - they are resting quietly in 25 foot of water under the fish house. Upps! I need to get up there during the softwater season. It was very picturesque, but I can only image the scenery from a boat. Chi Chi, Ed (our "guide"), Joe (aka "chef"), and Carrie took good care of us...we will definitely be back! We certainly appreciated your hospitality at the main lodge too. Thank you. Please also share with the staff at Oak.

Chi Chi,

Had a fantastic time at Oak Island. Could not believe the business colleagues I bumped into on Saturday night. Will be speaking with Greg about some group(s) options (via our buses) with these clients for 2009/2010.

Also, (both Chi Chi and Greg), any good dates for March available? Trying to get my wife and another couple up there for the hard water fishing.

"Wak"and Eddie were the two best guides we could have asked for ! Wow ~ They were outstanding ! Cannot say enough kind things about them and the way they catered to us. That was the ultimate in customer service.

Greg hooked up with Flip, Phillippe by accident what a Hoot!

Thanks,  -

Dear Gregg & Staff,

Just wanted to take a quick minute and write a quick note of thanks. Your staff paid attention to every detail of our trip and made it a world class adventure. From the start of the trip and the bus ride north, we were treated like celebrities. The food was excellent and the bar staff put up with our not wanting to go to bed in the most professional manner. The lodge made sure every request was taken care of with enthusiasm and they carried out each and every request.

To say the fishing was amazing is an understatement. All three of our boats caught, photographed and released numerous trophy fish. The shore lunch, oh my gosh, where do we begin, it was that awesome. The guides went up and above the call of duty and took care of everything down to the last detail. Plus, we were able to send everyone home with a ton of pictures, a lot of memories and a limit of fresh Walleye!!

Again, thanks for the great trip, the many memories and the friendships you helped us all develop. We can't wait to do it all over agian. Maybe next time we will have to come up ice fishing although with this group, that could be a little dangerous.

THANKS AGAIN!!!!!
Chris

Dear Gregg,

Well the 12th Annual Ride is now in the history books.. Many thanks for your expertise. The ride using the orange stakes was a dream all the way beack to Falcon And West hawk Lakes traveling at 50 mph and no hiccups.

I would like to give a special thanks to Eric, Kit and Dave for a great outing on Tuesday. The food was once again excellent - a highlight for most of the guys!!

Also "thanks" to Eric for showing us some new trails in the Baudette area and for his concern for the riders.

Just proves Gregg that you do not have to be there for things to run well!!!!! Also "Thanks" to your great staff for the many courtesies shown to our group. Shelly at the Front Desk, all the Bar & Restaurant staff for their patience and great service and the cabin staff for making sure all was just great for our group.

Lookin forward to next Feb. 09. Continued success to the Sportsman's Lodge and Staff.  Your Canadian Friend, -
Don
 Hello Gregg,

Yes, it was cold on Sunday Feb. 10th. We just got our lines into the 30 feet of water and pulled in a small sauger. Later we caught some nice walleye and a few more small ones.

We had a good guide, he stopped by to check on us. The bombadier gave us quite a ride.

Sunday evening we had a hot water line frozen in our cabin. We were promptly given a room in the motel. Thank you.

The meals were excellent and each evening we had a very good waitress. We got the red carpet treatment. Thank you.

With this global warming, we should have better weather next year.

Sincerely,
Arnold, February 18, 2008
